Artist Statement

"Through my paintings, I seek to give form to the unseen, coming along with a longing for harmony through color and composition. It’s a rhythm that creates these intentions,not the other way. A play of connection, conversation and feelings translated into language through lyrical abstraction. Through this practice I want to discover what lies within and see where a vision will take me–willing to deal with overcoming’s and acceptance. I see my work as a continuation of causalities, beginning with the initial confrontation and creative act during my process, and living on through what others will discover within in it. My intention is to convey a sensibility that encourages observers to pause for a moment and connect with themselves, experiencing a sense of peace and wonder ultimately allowing us to be and feel alive"

With the paintings of Cologne-based artist Atina Rabou, we enter the world of the unconscious and lyrical abstraction. Her works are non-representational and characterized by energetic colour compositions.
