From Tom´s perspective, the only thing that all people have in common is childhood.
That is why the childlike depiction of different motifs taken out of context plays a central role in his artistic work.

ART
Tom's artistic work is about escaping into a self-created "fictional" dream world. This "Garden of Eden" is characterized by figures or fantasy creatures such as monsters, animals or other characters, which are torn away from their original representation and depicted in a childlike and playful way. His works are characterized by humour, spontaneity and a naive way of depiction. Tom's inspiration comes from a variety of media influences such as films, books and video games. He cites Stephen King, H.P. Lovecraft and Tolkien as his role models. Tom's painterly style is strongly influenced by drawings and can be interpreted as a transformation of these onto the medium of canvas. The artist uses only oil crayons and no liquid colors or brushes. All of his works are characterized by an expressive use of colour and an expressive and impasto application of paint. In his work there are a large number of recurring symbols such as propeller caps or faces in places where there are actually none. The artist uses this as a stylistic device by personifying objects or areas in his paintings that are not actually there.
Recently, he has been combining the impasto painting of oil sticks with airbrushing. Here, certain parts or elements of a picture are selected and sprayed. In this way, the strong color applications of the oil sticks create depth alongside the washed-out, graphic airbrush elements.
